What you can expect next

Happy Autumn, Lovelies.

First, please accept my apologies for being away for a bit. As my 2-year-old nears 3-years-old, he has developed a laser focused desire to hang out with me and my undivided attention. Therefore, even when his sister is at pre-school, my usual time for writing is co-opted. Plus, we’re on a reluctant journey down the potty training path, which means my weekends are no more available for the quiet writing time than the weekdays have been.

But days are looking clearer ahead, so I’m excited because I have some fun things on my mind to share in the coming posts. I thought I’d give you an idea what to expect in time for the holidays.

••••> Now that we’ve pretty much stepped both feet onto the fast track towards the holiday season, I’m very happy to share with you my vegan Thanksgiving spread.

Over the years, I’ve perfected veganized my family’s traditional dishes, and it’s a home cooked paradise here. Every year, I host Orphan’s Thanksgiving, feeding between 10-15 friends, vegans and non-vegans alike. We all stuff ourselves on a sinfully delicious and cruelty-free feast, which never disappoints. Everybody brings a vegan dish to share, but below is the list of the dishes I make each year, and these are only ever made on Thanksgiving, keeping them sacred.

Asparagus Casserole

Macaroni Casserole

(yes to all the casseroles because I’m a southern girl)

Mash Potatoes / gravy

crescent rolls

Chocolate Pie

Pumpkin Pie

And we serve a Tofurky Roast, but that won’t get a separate post.

Leading up to Thanksgiving, I will post a detailed recipe page for each dish, so you can have some tools at your disposal while preparing for your own vegan, cruelty-free holidays.

••••> Also, I will be turning my spring vegetable garden over to my fall/winter garden. I will post about the things I did to rejuvenate the soil in my small suburban garden plot, rescuing the scorched, dry dirt from our 5 year drought.

••••> And I’ve started down the bread baking rabbit hole. I experimented and tweaked and fussed, and I’ve finally built my best Soft Sourdough Sandwich Loaf. I will gladly (and lengthily ((is lengthily a word?)) ) post my experiences and the recipe that I toiled to discover.

••••> Finally, I have some new vegan, cruelty-free skincare products and make-up to review.

So stay tuned. There are a lot of good things to come. Thanks for your patience, and please always feel free to contact me directly with questions or ideas.
